Castle's Aubrey Baker Slugging Her Way to Greatness

During the first inning of the Knights' 8-5 regional championship victory over Floyd Central on Tuesday, the Castle junior smoked a pitch to deep left for a home run. It was the fourth home run for Castle as a team in that one inning alone, and it marked the ninth long ball of the season for Aubrey in what has been an impressive display of power for the Middle Tennessee commit this spring.

Baker had announced her commitment to the Blue Raiders back in February...

"I am super excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career playing Division 1 softball at Middle Tennessee State University!! I want to thank God, my family, my coaches, friends, and teammates for all the support along the way!" Aubrey said. "GO MTSU RAIDERS 💙"

Having played both first base and left field, some noteworthy achievements for Baker at the varsity level for the Lady Knights are as followed:

- Has combined to hit 13 home runs and 15 doubles during the course of the last two seasons to this point.

- During sectionals, Aubrey went 2-4 with an RBI double in a 11-1 win over Evansville Reitz on May 21st.

- Belted a three-run home run in an 8-5 win over Brownsburg on April 6th, driving in four overall.

- Hit .453 with nine doubles, four home runs, and 22 runs batted in as a sophomore during the spring of 2023.

- As a freshman, went 1-2 with a home run, a base on balls, and two runs scored in a 6-3 win over Noblesville on Apr. 23, 2022.

The fourth-ranked softball team in the state on MaxPreps, Castle will face off against Center Grove for semi-state this Saturday.
