Q&A With Highland Senior Walter Glover Jr.

Image
Heading into his senior year, Glover is one of the leaders for an up-and-coming Highland program that progressed from just three wins in 2022-23 to nine in 2023-24. Standing at 6'2", it is not all that often that I notice someone here in NWI with such defined post skills. A second team all-conference selection for the Greater South Shore Conference, Walter averaged 9.6 points and 4.9 rebounds per game during his junior season. As a sophomore, he recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds in the Trojans' 50-42 victory at Wheeler on Jan. 3, 2023. What is your favorite movie? Walt: " I would say my favorite movie of all-time has to be 2 Fast 2 Furious. I just have a passion for cars and it the early stages of the series, they really kept it about cars and street racing. It's like a culture in itself. " What is your favorite food? Walt:  " I love tacos, that one was an easy one. Tacos are simple to make and pack with so much flavor, and you can

Q&A With South Central (Elizabeth, IN) Sophomore Hailey Conder

Though small in stature at 5'4", Hailey's talent speaks for itself. South Central in Elizabeth is not even the most recognizable school by the name "South Central" in Indiana. In fact, their girls basketball program has not won five games in a season since 2018 prior to this past season. With her mom as a first-year head coach, Hailey has come in and made an instant impact with multiple 30-point games during her freshman season alone...  What is your favorite movie? Hailey: " My favorite movie would have to be Hoosiers. " What is your favorite food? Hailey:  " My favorite food is the potato soup my grandma makes me before my basketball games. " Who is your favorite athlete? Hailey: " My favorite athlete would have to be Caitlin Clark. " What was your proudest moment as a basketball player to this point? Hailey: " I have two. When our team was able to go from two wins to eight, and when I hit ten threes and broke the school recor

Image
Bella is my first-ever out-of-state participant, as she resides in the southern suburbs of Cincinnati on the other side of the Ohio River ( I once visited Cincy for a Cubs/Reds series in 2016 with my late father ). She is a 5'11" small forward that can score from just about anywhere, and has received offers from Bluffton and Mount St. Joseph, as well as Franklin College and Anderson here in Indiana...  What is your favorite movie? Crawford: " I have a lot, but I really like Halloweentown, mainly because I really like Halloween. " What is your favorite food? Crawford:  " That's a tough one. Probably a toss-up between seafood and pasta. " Who is your favorite athlete? Crawford: " Womens basketball is really what I watch. I really like Courtney Vandersloot. But obviously I like Caitlin Clark. My family is also big football fans, especially the Cowboys. No particular player, though. " What was your proudest moment as a basketball player to this po
