"I have continually prayed and worked for this moment to come, now God has answered me with the opportunity to compete at the University of Notre Dame!  Thank you to Coach Kris, who could have selected anyone to play for her program, but has enough confidence in me to represent her and this wonderful institution following graduation from high school. It will be my honor to compete for her at the university in an effort to continue the legacy of success that my predecessors have stoically laid out for me. I am also grateful to the dedicated staff of Coach Boo, Coach Jamie, Coach Pooch, and Coach Mo who made our recent visit together exceed the elevated expectations. You truly welcomed me into this life changing experience. Along the way so many people helped me develop. I want to recognize my current and past teammates, the Bandits Organization, Lincoln Way East, Coach Kyle, Coach Abbott, Coach Krista, Coach Stein, Coach Nemeth, and Coach Hyland. And finally I wanted to give a special thank you to my biggest supporters and fans, my family. I will be sure to play to my abilities and embrace this opportunity leaving no regrets. Now I can officially and proudly declare that I am a Fighting Irish!" 🍀

A two-time regional champion, Hughes concluded her prep career with averages of 9.6 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.8 steals per game for the Lady Eagles. - A 5'2" lefty-hitting freshman at North Posey High School in Poseyville, Indiana. - A high average hitter with good speed and a touch of power. - Batted .391 with two doubles, two triples, one home run, and 11 runs batted in as a freshman during the spring of 2024. - Hit a triple in her first career start for the Vikings at South Knox on Apr. 9, going 3-5 with two runs scored. - Went 1-3 with a double and drove in two runs in a 11-0 win over Shakamak on Apr. 20. - Stole two bases during a 15-3 victory over South Spencer on Apr. 26. - Went 2-3 with two runs scored in a 7-0 win over Pike Central on May 7. - Hit her first career home run in the fourth inning of an 8-5 victory over Mt. Vernon on May 13. - During the 2A regional championship, Hester went 1-3 with a base on balls and two runs scored in a 5-4 win over Sullivan on May 28. - Enjoys riding horses...
