Q&A With New Prairie Senior Randi Robakowski

Current NP senior Randi Robakowski, along with her older sister Abby (whom she in fact referenced in this session), led the Cougars to the 3A state softball title in 2023. On July 30th of last year, Randi committed to Davenport University for softball and made her signing official last month. While she does not possess her sister’s pure power, Randi has more than held her own in batting average. During her sophomore campaign of 2023 in which New Prairie won it all, Robakowski batted .467 with 12 doubles and 34 RBI. Randi has also tried her hand at volleyball, where she recorded 163 digs over the last two seasons...

What is your favorite movie?

Randi: "My favorite movie is a hard one... It is definitely between The Lorax and Billy Madison."

What is your favorite food?

Randi: "My favorite food is homemade pierogies."

Who is your favorite athlete?

Randi: "I would say my favorite athlete is my sister. She is only two years older than me and I have been lucky enough to watch her grow and develop as a player. With that being said, she has always worked hard and set a perfect example for me."

What was your proudest moment as a softball player to this point?

Randi: "Winning the state championship for softball in 2023. We were also the first state champions in school history."

Where do you foresee yourself in ten years' time?

Randi: "I want to be working in my intended field in forensic accounting. I would also like to still be living close to home."

Do you have any specific goals you'd like to accomplish this upcoming spring?

Randi: "I would like to remain first team all-conference and all-state. I would like to beat my batting average from last season, which was .538."

If you could go anywhere for a seven-day vacation, where would it be?

Randi: "I would love to go on a seven-day vacation to Hawaii. That has been my dream vacation for a very long time now."

How would you best describe your strengths on the softball diamond?

Randi: "One of my strengths is being a leader on the field and always having my teammates' back. Another strength would be being consistent. Lastly, I work very hard with my footwork and all of my mechanics, so I would also say being fundamentally sound."

Who or what would you say is your greatest inspiration?

Randi: "I have been blessed with a very strong and large support system. It's hard to pick a single person who inspires me. Many people inspire me such as my teammates, coaches, and friends. Although, I would say my main inspiration is my family. They are always supporting me and pushing me to be a better player and person."

Outside of softball, what is your favorite downtime activity?

Randi: "I would say one of my favorite things to do when I have free time is to go shopping."

Any random fact you would like to share about yourself?

Randi: "A random fact about me is that I went to an Adele concert in Las Vegas."
