Q&A With Kankakee Valley Sophomore Patience Cole

 

Playing the left side of the infield, Patience batted .338 with eight doubles as a freshman for the Kougars... She drew a base on ball during sectionals against eventual state finalist Hanover Central.

What is your favorite movie?

PC: "Antasia. It's always been a classic for me and I never get tired of it!"

What is your favorite food?

PC: "I really enjoy a good pasta salad with rotisserie shreds in it! Amazing for hot weather plus a ton of protein."

Who is your favorite athlete?

PC: "I love Simone Biles, she's such an amazing gymnast who advocates for mental health for all athletes. We need more people like her in the sports industry."

What was your proudest moment as a softball player to this point?

PC: "My proudest moment is my growth. I come from a very small community that doesn't get considered much, but I have been putting in the work to get me where I am now. That currently is my proudest moment."

Where do you foresee yourself in ten years' time?

PC: "I see myself being involved with softball still such as Athletes Unlimited hopefully, if not that then having my own travel softball team!"

Do you have any specific goals you'd like to accomplish between now and this time next year?

PC: "I want to know how to make myself more well-known around the softball industry and to be able to live up to the expectations set for me."

If you could go anywhere for a seven-day vacation, where would it be?

PC: "I would love to visit Maui!"

Who or what would you say is your greatest inspiration?

PC: "My biggest inspiration is Emma Maple. I have known her for years now and she has shown/taught me things I have never thought of. She is truly one of my biggest inspirations."

How would you best describe your strengths on the softball diamond?

PC: "I think I would describe them as unique. Sometimes I can go back and see the plays I make and think how did I pull that off? Coaches have also mentioned that they've never seen someone as young as me do the things I do."

Outside of softball, what is your favorite downtime activity?

PC: "I like to be outside doing fun things with friends, even if it's as simple as walking around town."

What is your favorite animal and why?

PC: "My favorite animal is the whale shark. No matter what they have to keep moving and that's how I think everyone should be. If something happens just keep moving and leave the past in the past. Focus on YOUR future."

Any random fact you would like to share about yourself?

PC: "I like to shop and get new clothes to make myself feel extra fancy when going out!"
