Q&A With North Posey Senior Elle Jo Johnson


The 5'5" senior guard is looking to build on promising sophomore and junior campaigns in which she averaged 6.9 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.9 steals per game during that timeframe, along with 42 career three-pointers. Among Elle Jo's top individual performances include:

- Produced nine points (two of five on threes), eight rebounds, and three steals as a sophomore in a 48-35 win at Boonville on Nov. 29, 2023.

- Recorded 10 points (one three-pointer), seven rebounds, and two steals playing at Evansville Central and D1 commit Maddy Shirley on Nov 21, 2023.

- As a freshman, scored nine points on two-of-four shooting from three-point range against Evansville Mater Dei on Jan. 12, 2023.

- And as mentioned below, scored a season-high 16 points (including three three-pointers) last season during a 54-51 victory at Evansville Reitz, stealing the ball from another D1 commit, Bailey Hape, and connecting on the game-winning bucket...  

What is your favorite movie?

Elle: "My favorite movie is A League of Their Own!"

What is your favorite food?

Elle: "My favorite food is chicken pillows (a homemade recipe from my mom)."

Who is your favorite athlete?

Elle: "My favorite athlete is Michael Jordan!"

What was your proudest moment as a basketball player to this point?

Elle: "Scoring 16 points and making the final shot to beat an undefeated 4A Reitz team."

Where do you foresee yourself in five years' time?

Elle: "In five years, I see myself playing my senior year of college basketball and pursuing a career in sonography."

Do you have any specific goals you'd like to accomplish between now and this time next year?

Elle: "I would like to be attending or committing to my dream school along with leading my team to a state championship."

If you could go anywhere for a seven-day vacation, where would it be?

Elle: "I would go to Gatlinburg on a seven-day vacation!"

Who or what would you say is your greatest inspiration?

Elle: "My dad or Jesus Christ is my greatest inspiration."

How would you best describe your strengths on the basketball court?

Elle: "My best strength is my defensive intensity and my speed on the court in my opinion."

Outside of sports, what is your favorite downtime activity?

Elle: "Outside of sports, I like to go on four-wheeler rides with my family."

Any random fact you would like to share about yourself?

Elle: "A random fact about myself is that I won a certificate from the state senator for the best chicken keeper.
